Fur Free Alliance Information About Use of Fur Bearing Animals for Fur

The Competition

Students are invited to participate in the 2009 design competition with a conscience, to design a creative, effective animation clip sending an important, compassionate message that the wearing of fur is cruel and unnecessary.

Target audience: young, fashion conscious women, 18 - 30 years of age.

The work of the top three submissions, plus five specially commended students, will be featured on the Design Against Fur website and may also be used by members of the Fur Free Alliance in their campaigns and featured in press materials.

Brief

The theme of the 2009 Design Against Fur competition is simply "the wearing of fur is cruel and unnecessary," highlighting the slaughter of more than 75 million animals every year for their fur, merely to satisfy the whims of fashion.

Requirements and Entering the Contest

To enter the DAF 2009 International Animation Contest, you must:

Register here (be sure to select "International Animation Contest" under the Region field) AND complete the Registraion Notification Form
Submit your 30-60 second animation as a video response to the DAF 2009 International Animation Contest video on YouTube at inFURmation.com/youtube
Name your entry in this format: “DAF2009 Animation: LastName_FirstName_Registration#”
Complete all parts of the Student Animation Submission and Copyright/Royalty-Free Form
(please print out forms, complete and sign them, scan and e-mail them to us at: DesignAgainstFur@gan.ca - please include your registration number and YouTube User Name).
Animation entries must convey the message, "The Wearing of Fur is Cruel and Unnecessary"
Animation entries must be original, must not have been published, broadcast, or otherwise publicly distributed previously, and must not infringe on any third party rights
All animation entries must include a title screen at the beginning and a closing screen at the end which must include The Fur Furee Alliance logo AND the Design Against Fur logo
Any method of animation may be used (Flash, Stop Motion, After Effects, 3D, etc...), but your entry must be submitted via YouTube following the above guidelines. The Prizes

A panel of judges, will select winning entries from around the world.

1st Prize: US $1000
2nd Prize: US $500
3rd Prize: US $250

5 entrants will also receive certificates of special commendation from the judges.
