Humane Society International Australia is a large, supporter-based national organisation that maintains an ongoing and high profile campaign to keep fur out of Australia. They do this via their annual Faux Fur Fashion Show, celebrating fashion without real fur, and by gaining pledges from Australia's fashion designers not to use fur. HSI also exposed the sale of fur fashion items that featured dog and cat fur imported from Asia. This resulted in Australia banning the import of dog and cat fur. HSI also concentrates on wildlife and habitat protection issues in Australia and regionally. And, it maintains a small grants program to help NGOs in the Asia/Pacific Region.

Australia & Asia Pacific is part of the DAF European and International region.

GAIA-Ethics in action for animal rights GAIA (Global Action in the Interest of Animals), founded in 1992, stands up for the rights of all animals through non-violent action against organized and structural forms of sentient animal abuse and gives advice on prevention and/or how to tackle individual animal abuse.

GAIA strives for recognition of the rights of sentient animals, such as the right to well being, the right to live in harmony with their own nature, and the right to physical and mental integrity. It is wrong, in GAIA's view, to make vulnerable animals suffer and to kill them, particularly when this is not necessary for human survival. Since animals cannot defend themselves effectively against the abuse of their vulnerability or stand up for their own rights, GAIA is their advocate.

The Belgian animal rights organisation GAIA has 20000 members.

Bont voor Dieren (Fur for Animals) is dedicated to the protection of fur animals, believing that no one should kill an animal to make a coat out of its fur. Fur is a luxury product, and there are many beautiful and warm animal-friendly alternatives. Bont voor Dieren acts upon this cruelty towards animals through education, legal actions and media campaigns, and by political lobbying.

These means have had success: the selling of fur has drastically declined over the past years in the Netherlands; the breeding of foxes and chinchillas is no longer allowed and there is a national ban on seal products.

But still each year over 4 million mink in The Netherlands, that have been bred specifically for their fur, live and die under cruel circumstances. Bont voor Dieren is now campaigning en lobbying for a complete ban on mink farming in The Netherlands.

NOAH—for animal rights is Norway’s largest animal rights organisation. NOAH is working for the rights of animals in a society where they are by law defined as things—as human property. The organisation opposes animal mistreatment in any form, especially when it is protected by law. NOAH is working against the commercial exploitation of animals, and thereby against the tradition of viewing animals as goods and products. NOAH engages itself both for captive animals and wild animals, being victims of human exploitation. NOAH’s work for animals rights is based on a deep ecological principle, where the respect for humans’ and animals’ intrinsic worth is an obvious part of the respect for nature’s worth in itself. NOAH headquarters is located in Oslo. At present, the fur issue is one of NOAH’s no. 1 priorities.
