For the last 15 years, Czech animal protection organization Freedom for Animals (Svoboda zvířat) has aspired to change the attitude of the Czech public to animals as to creatures having their own inner value.

Freedom for Animals has a new face: "After 15 years, the time has come to make a change and create a brand-new logo of the organization, new web sites and to modernise the face of Svoboda zvířat globally," says Tomáš Popp, the chairman of the organization.

The new logo characterizes the Freedom for Animals' area of concern: it consists of two animal silhouettes joined to form an S symbol. The basic colour scheme is a combination of orange and black.

The change will project into all the informative and promotional activities. The main reason for the modernization of the visual appearance is the aim to communicate efficiently and understandably with the public.

Freedom for Animals on its way to specialization and professionalization Another change is a narrower specialization of the organization in several animal-protection topics selected in accordance with the long-term expertise and proficiency of Freedom for Animals' employees.

Today, it deals mainly with so-called fur-animals, animal-experiments issues, ecological and ethic education, and cat protection.

"The individual campaign coordinators have long-standing experience in this sphere and appropriate education. We managed to create a professional team of experts specialized in the particular animal-protection fields," explains T. Popp.

During the next few years, Freedom for Animals will focus on enforcement of a ban on the fur farming, on experiments with primates, on household-products testing on animals, and generally it will strive for replacement of the animal experiments with alternative methods without using living creatures.

Achievements of Freedom for Animals

"15 years is only juvenility and even immaturity in human life. However, Svoboda zvířat has meanwhile reached the status of an internationally recognized organization. It has been receiving strong credit for a long time and has been considered one of the most important organizations for animal protection," adds T. Popp.

It is a member of many international organizations, cooperates with prominent scientists in ethology and animal welfare, and participates in European and world campaigns.

Among the its accomplishments we can find the following successes: through an active campaign, it helped to interdict the trade in seal products in EU, it contributed to push through the prohibition of cosmetics and its ingredients testing on animals, it helped to replace some dissections and animal experiments in education at several schools and faculties, it advocated for the ban on import and sale of dogs and cats fur in EU.
